Our Expert View
How regularly do you floss your teeth? Did you know that doing so provides a better clean than brushing alone, is great for gum health and can help to prevent gum disease and cavities? But don’t worry if traditional flossing feels harsh on your mouth. Spotlight have created an innovative Water Flosser that provides just as strong results but is much more gentle.
Suitable for everyone, the water flosser can be used by those with bridges, braces, implants and crowns. In fact, anyone who wants a fresher and cleaner mouth can benefit from it.
WHY USE A WATER FLOSSER?
As well as improving your oral care and giving you fresher and cleaner teeth, regular use of a water flosser can:
• Deeply clean around dental bridges, braces, implants and crowns
• Improve gum health and stop gum disease
• Remove bacteria from the gums and mouth
• Reduce inflammation and bleeding gums
When paired with the Spotlight Sonic Toothbrush, results are enhanced too.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The water flosser uses a combination of water pressure and pulsations to remove bacteria and stimulate circulation in the gums. As well as working on the teeth’s surface layer, the flosser gets to work deep between the teeth and below the gum line. Typically, traditional flossing and brushing can’t reach here.
PROFESSIONAL RESULTS
The water flosser comes with 4 tips - a tongue scraper, orthodontic spray tip, periodontal pocket sprinkler and classic jet tip - to provide you with a complete and deep treatment. Choose between the 3 operating modes - normal, soft and pulse - depending on your needs and sensitivity, and enjoy a tailored treatment.
SIMPLE YET SMART
The device’s ergonomic design makes it easy to hold and control. The 360-degree rotating nozzle also allows you to reach those smaller areas, ensuring a full clean throughout the mouth. Plus, you never have to worry about missing out on your clean as the compact flosser is cordless and rechargeable which means you can take it with you wherever you go.
HOW TO USE
Step 1: Extend the tank to the black line and fill with lukewarm water.
Step 2: Choose your preferred flosser tip. Place it into the top of the flosser ensuring it clicks in place. To change the tip, press the release button at the back of the device.
Step 3: To begin flossing, place the tip inside your mouth and press the power button. It’s advised that you lean over the sink during the session.
Step 4: Aim the flosser tip at the gum line and work your way from the back of your teeth to the front. Spray water at the gum line and floss both the front and back of your teeth.
Step 5: To avoid water splashing, partially close your mouth and allow the water to flow from your mouth into the sink.
You may need to refill the water tank during each session.
WHY WE LOVE IT
Ask any dental professional whether you should floss regularly and they’ll tell you yes! Put simply, flossing is the single most important way to get rid of plaque and debris in between your teeth and also controls bad breath. Traditional flossing techniques can often feel harsh on your teeth but this water flosser is revolutionising oral care with a gentle approach.

FAQs
How often should I floss? Flossing is essentially just as important as brushing is. We should floss each day, it removes debris and food caught between your teeth that a regular toothbrush cannot reach.
I find flossing hurts, how can I help this? Often, flossing can hurt because we are not doing it often enough! If you have inflamed or bleeding gums, you might need to start using products that contain clinically proven active ingredients that target this specific issue. If the problem persists, you should make an appointment to see your dentist, as you may require treatment. If your gums hurt when you floss, be gentle with yourself and make it a daily habit to floss before bed and your gums should be feeling healthier in no time.
